The duties outlined below represent the full range of responsibilities associated with the most senior level of this role; responsibilities may be adjusted based on experience and position level.

For this position, CID is specifically seeking candidates with experience supporting motor control, instrumentation, Allen-Bradley PLCs, and various HMI platforms in the water, wastewater, and pharmaceutical industries.

Position Summary

The Field Technician position at CID spans multiple technical disciplines, with a primary focus on electrical troubleshooting of motor control systems, PLCs, instrumentation, industrial networking, and electro-mechanical equipment such as pumps, solenoids, and valves.

Field Technicians are also responsible for commissioning new and upgraded systems. This work includes performing I/O checkouts, executing test procedures, configuring instrumentation, setting up VFDs, and commissioning other related control devices to ensure systems operate safely, reliably, and as intended.

Work Environment

Field Technicians spend the majority of their time working at customer sites and traveling between project locations. CID provides a company car, van, or truck as appropriate for the role and assignment. Depending on the technician's location and project needs, a dedicated workspace will be provided either at a main CID office or within a project-specific construction trailer.

Travel

Site support work is expected anywhere from 70% to 80% of the time. Travel may include long drives, air travel, hotel stays, and meals covered per diem.

Salary Range

$117,500 to $122,500 per year

Position Responsibilities

Electrical Support

• Diagnose AC circuits for relay logic, motor control, and various industrial loads
• Diagnose DC circuits including relay logic, 4-20mA loops, and battery systems
• Diagnose PLC I/O modules

Instrumentation Support

• Configure and simulate instrumentation
• Perform instrument diagnostics
• Calibrate pressure, level, and flow meters, including clamp-on verification
• Perform specialty instrument calibrations

Software Support

• Diagnose PLC programs and HMI platforms
• Diagnose workstations and operating systems

Network Support

• Diagnose NIC card configurations
• Diagnose communications between network switches, computers, and other IP-enabled devices
• Set up and configure remote VPN solutions for temporary remote support

Commissioning

• Perform I/O checkout using instrumentation simulation, jumpering, and other field wiring methods
• Test electro-mechanical devices such as valves and specialty equipment
• Execute witnessed and unwitnessed commissioning test plans
• Set up and commission VFDs, softstarts, and smart overloads
