Position Summary
The Senior Instrument and Controls Engineer (Subject Matter Expert) position at CID involves various disciplines, with core responsibilities in PLC programming, HMI programming, commissioning, and support efforts. The position provides variety across software platforms, customers, and industries, and includes leadership and oversight responsibilities across project teams.
Work Environment
Engineers at CID primarily work in a climate-controlled office environment with their own cubicle or office. Field work entails various industrial environments that require PPE and safety training.
Travel
Remote work to commission customer systems or provide support is expected anywhere from 5% to 20% of the time. Travel may include air travel, hotel stays, and meals covered per diem.
Salary Range
$130,000 to $140,000 per year
Position Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage and provide oversight for other project managers
Technical Writing
- Author and oversee development of training materials, control narratives, and functional test procedures
PLC Programming
- Develop complete PLC programs and provide oversight for other programmers
- Define and develop UDTs and AOIs
- Program and review subsets of code across projects
HMI Programming
- Develop and oversee complete HMI applications
- Develop OIT programs and graphic screens using pre-built objects
- Develop UDTs and templates
- Configure HMI platforms, historians, and reporting
Commissioning
- Manage commissioning efforts and execute test plans with customers
- Oversee IO checkout, including signal triggering and loop sourcing
- Configure PLC firmware, communication modules, VFDs, and instrumentation
Additional Skills Considered
